Year 3 - The Year that Green was King

This was perhaps my longest and most painful camp ever and deserves a post of its own because well, it's Krush's story <3

I had told myself that I wouldn't hunt him for all the grief I'd heard so much about but that only worked for so long.  I would later find myself in the Shozin Basin, camping for this newest obsession.  My guildies were busy with other things, my friends figured I was nuts as day in and day out I stalked the Basin.  Several times other hunters pulled their own pet out on me and with my rare addon screaming, I rushed over only to see them laugh and taunt as they flew off.  A rarer beast even spawned for me but obsessions aren't so easily satisfied.

And then... avert your eyes to the sadness as I came across my first real glance at the king.

Even the apes came to pay their last respects....

But sad stories can have a happy ending.
A couple weeks later, as to which I've seen enough mammoth herds to last me a life time.  It was one of those late nights that you keep hoping, another hour, just one more hour.  What is it with rares and late nights?

At 4am, I got my wish.

All evening I had been alone when he spawned inches from me and what was worse, a ally flew down as well.  Fearing the worse, I took a deep breath, expecting the human to kill what I had been stalking for weeks now.  I watched as instead, the ally took a step back and I did not waste the silent go-ahead he had given me.  I did not even pause to screen-cap, firing off a stun, drinking my potions, hitting my protection and praying as my health steady went down.  The biggest pain with Krush is that he fears but the hunter-gods were with me, the seconds ticked down.  With a bow, the ally left me with my prize and I'm sure I woke the neighbors with my cheers.

My new companion (who later became Limeade).  Of course, what's a rare without bringing him back to the city to proudly show off.  He seemed to enjoy creeping up behind unsuspecting people and scaring the pixels out of them as well.

I took him everywhere, even met some other friends, ally and horde alike with a love of green pets.  Even got me drawing again and spawned a fair likeness of him.

He definitely enjoys my green obsession, often rolling his head around when I try to get a decent screen shot of the two of us.  Move already you green tard!  I do love this pixel dinosaur thou, still one of my favorites to this very day.

He also followed me right into the beginning of cata's opening and into its new worlds.  See, having a bright green dinosaur can be handy, never get lost in a crowd again :)

Next stop, more green tames!

Year 3 - Pet Stories of 2010 Part 1

Still trucking right along through 2010 (aka continuing through the past)
Expect a lot of images and a lot of mini stories -cackle-

With the new stables in place.  Ah the love of being able to have more then 5 pets.  My newest spirit beast Eclipse followed me through as I  went about taming to my heart's content.

Now that I had the space, I meant to start stalking rares, I did, really I did.
But with his blind smirking face, I couldn't say no to taming this fuzzy guy.
Meet FishBait.

And back to stalking the rares!

I found this guy next, he was green enough and became my new pvp go-to pet.  This was before his wild version was turned into a brain bug so I was pleased to get him, even if it wasn't a rare skin ^_~

I enjoyed some good moments with Outbreak and my guildmate Bull with his own pvp pet.

Had to have a green corehound of course :D

Now, the biggest green animal around had been around since Wrath started but I told myself early on and countless times at that, no, I wasn't going to go after him.  Not only was he a rare but he was also a achievement and hit like a mini fright truck at the time.  I'd read the horror stories, wasn't going through the pain of having him killed out from under me or tamed by someone else or worse! killed by him and stolen while I rushed back to my corpse.

Nope, I was not going to go through it....

Next thing I knew, I was sitting in Shozin Basin, ready to have a big green dinosaur chomp my face off.  Instead, I see this guy stalking around me.

No hunters, no-one around... damn it!

A few minutes later I had him.  I will say, I rush tamed but I've grown quiet fond of Lazar.
So with him safely in my stable, I went back to hunting... and stalking, and dreaming of a great giant green dinosaur of my very own....

Year 3 - Mount Obessions of 2010!

Be afraid, be very afraid.  Continuing through the past
here is a look back at 2010's madness where I had to have even more mounts.

I had already hit my 50 mark but I had to have more <3

From hippogriffins...

To even more wolves and raptors...

To the epicness of motorcycles & sparkly ponies...

To bears and knight ponies, oh my...

To the delight of rares and faction love <3

And back to hunting stories after these messages, I promise :)

Year 2 - Northend Take 1 2009

Continuing through the past, still finishing up 2009.
Wrath finally hit and to Northend I went.

I took my time coming into the Wrath expansion.  After creating my DK for kicks and giggles, I then returned to my beloved hunter to start exploring the icy new lands that opened up before us.

I loved the quests and doing the odd jumping off really high things to see if I could live through it :)  just the views were worth the damage.

Virus, my stead fast (and rather sexy green) spiny raptor came along with me.  I'm sure he wasn't thrilled with the icy temperatures but he took it good naturally as always.

I think my all time favorite quest and yes, a girly squeee must be inserted here, were the murloc quests.  I mean come on, baby murlocs <3

And that's when I discovered the rare spirit beasts.  Of course, at the time, there was only a handful.  Tiger with green eyes?  I had to have it.  I fell in love with Gondria's skin and design and spent all my waking time hunting for her/him (given on what lore you follow).

One thing you learn as a hunter is hunting rares can take a long time, if you don't have the patience for long camps, you're better off stalking the common animals.  Twice I missed him, once he was even dead.  I camped for several weeks, my guild thought I was nuts.  I checked before and after work and in between the occasional raid and dungeon until one morning, right before work, I logged on to see him pacing right in front of me.  No time for screenshots!  Panicked that someone would either come to kill or steal him from me, I dropped a freeze trap.  He lunged at me, I hit tame and prayed.  Several hours seconds later, he was sitting beside me.  It was the first real rush taming a rare I've ever had and it's still one of my best memories.

Virus took a much deserved vacation into warmer regions and my new spirit beast, named Illusion on the spot, became my new go-to pet.  Ever the curious cat, I had a lot of fun running around with him snapping screenshots like a mad-woman along the way.

Along my crazy adventures in the frozen lands, I also found a wonderful fishing companion.  When I wasn't dishing out bullets in someone's face, I liked to bring this guy out.  Having a giant rhino named ThunderBrew while you fished lakes and rivers just brought a great big smile to my face.

That's about when the new Venomhide Raptor quests came along.  So, leaving Northend for a while, me and my friend/guild mate Arch raced to see who could get their new raptor mount the fastest.

After killing more raptors then I care to mention and Zed beating me to the finish line.  Another mount joined my ever growing collection.

Then it was back and forth, doing quests, gathering more mounts and hunting for pets that struck my fancy at the time.  And of course, lets not forget the mammoth runs through Dalaran and Orgimmar.

Not only did I get my polar bear mount but I also got my 50 mount achievement and a gorgeous albino drake as my reward <3

And to end 2009 with a extra special treat, I started hunting Arcturis.  And much to my surprise as well as a short camp that involved me waking up with his big blue butt in my face at 3 in the morning.  This gorgious spirit bear was mine.  He attracted his fair share of druids.... a start to every hunter's dream.

All in good time druids, you will be ours.  To be continued...
